Lately my computer gets a BSOD while windows is loading (while the windows splashscreen is displayed) which restarts the boot process several times - until finally it works for some reason.
How can I trace what the problem is?
This is windows XP with latest service pack & updates.
When it finally does boot up, it says "the system has recovered from a serious error" and says:
BCCode : a0 BCP1 : 00000101 BCP2 : 00000007 BCP3 : BA503774
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1
Details shows me the following file paths which do NOT exist at that time:
C:\DOCUME~1\kryan\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5fd8.dir00\Mini030509-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\kryan\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5fd8.dir00\sysdata.xml
No, I hadn't added or removed any new software/hardware. I haven't tried booting into safe mode, but I did try "last known configuration that worked" which also gave me a BSOD. Then a couple tries later, I was able to boot up.
Are there any resources that I can reference with the messages that were shown when it finally booted correctly?
Sounds like a memory problem or disk problem.Try a memory checking tool preferably burn a boot cd with it, they are a lot in the internet.
You can check the event viewer in software and system if there something wrong (e.g the disk has bad sectors)
