I am in the process of building my ultimate machine. I did say my. I am trying to assemble the best components for the money. The system will consist of the Asus Striker Extreme motherboard, and will either be the Quad core extreme 2.66 Cpu or 2.93, that part I am unsure of. I have read many reviews, and as usual, you read so many that you end up with mixed mindsets, one is saying that non-water cooled is the best for the money invested, and the others are saying Water cooled is the best investment for you computer. So, here I am. Now I am only looking for the best Cpu cooler results. I am leaning towards the Ultra ChillTec Thermal Electric Cooler. On that note I was hoping to find out if I did use this cooler, what power supply need would I have, to handle the Cooler and a quad core unit. I know that there are several similiar threads, and I am sorry if this seems like a reapeat. But it better fits my exact configuration if you know what I am looking to do, with my own thread. Thanks for any help you can give me! I am leaning towards the Ati Radeon X1950xtx video card, with two Maxtor 500 gb hard drives installed. That is as far as I have gotten.........LOL If you have suggestions about the video card I would be happy to hear those too. That part I have yet to research here or at all really.

2900xt costs the same as 1950xtx. As does 8800gts. 1950 xtx is not worth the money.

The Striker Extreme is definately not worth it, overpriced POS. Get a p35 board instead.

Wait for quad core price drops 22 july.

If you are going to be building the ultimate machine which it looks like. If you are going to be overclocking that beast of a cpu I would go with a water cooled setup. If not then I would get this one.

Also just a thought on that motherboard you have selected. If I were you I would look into the new P35 chipset boards out now. Like this one.

This board is very new and probably still needs some more Bios maturing but so far it is out performing the Striker. Also it gives you the option to upgrade your memory to DDR3 later if you want. Here is a link with some reviews on the new ASUS P35 boards.

I think I will be upgrading my P5WDH-Deluxe Board soon!

Oh here is a link with the water cooling I am using now. Gives me really good temps. Right now I am at 3.5Ghz with an E6600 Idle= 23c Load=42c. Later when the price's drop on the Intel chips on July 22 I will snag me a Q6600 for around $300.

You want to build the ultimate machine and you're going with a x1950xt? I would go with an 8800 series card or the new ATI card. The ultimate, of course, being the 8800GTX. As others will say, the Striker Extreme is way overpriced. The new P35 boards or the 680i's are a much better choice.
