Transparency

so when you maximize a window, vista automatically turns off glass and removes transparency to remove distractions. This is great, however it looks ugly to me. is there anyway to have windows use maybe less transparency or maybe a different color then black while maximized?

I know you can use the color properties... but I don't like how it doesn't allow you to fool with transparency.
