Cyclic Redundancy Check

After a defragmentation of my HDD (Windows XP Professional) my PC slow down. Only if I logon via Safe Mode the PC speed is normal. I tried a ScanDisk and it repaired damaged files but it probably also changed the Checksum Info of many files and sectors. Trying to repair Windows XP by its CD I get the above Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check). Can anyone help me please.

in safe mode and from the command prompt type
cd\ <enter>
chkdsk /r <enter>
that should fix ya up

That /r switch isnt available on the XP cd for some reason.
