More Information

StorageReview finally puts the 7K1000 through it's paces. Looks like we finally have an alternative to the 150GB Raptor, as fastest DT hard drive. The Raptor still offers faster random access times(by a long shot), but in other benches(and games too!!!) the Hitachi reigns supreme. Although an expensive beast, Raptors have always commanded a huge price premium(for their size). At least with the Hitachi, you are getting oodles of storage space for all that green, as well as awesome performance. Can you imagine 2 of these puppies in RAID 0?....OMG! The Raptors still have the advantage in server-type apps, but i doubt most people buy a Raptor for server duty.....enthusiast part all the way. Now we'll have to wait and see if the Seagate 1TB can "dethrone" the Hitachi.
