100% usage

i get 100% usage through task manager during games such as Battlefield Vietnam. My games lock up then resume after 15 seconds or so. i was wondering if the cpu is causing the problem is it possible.is there a way to test the cpu. i have a 3800+ athlon 64

How much RAM? What operating system are you using?

I use windows xp home edition with one gigabyte of RAM
