So this past weekend after having multiple problems with my computer (mainly related to IE crashing instantly, antivirus software not updating properly, etc.) I reinstalled WinXP and since then I've had about 4 or 5 BSODs (all within the last 24 hours) and have all sorts of error codes being generated.

Here are a few codes, etc from the event viewer:

On 3/13/09 these occured:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000000a (0x16f000e8, 0x0000001c, 0x00000001, 0x804fb03c). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini031309-01.dmp.

Error code 1000000a, parameter1 16f000e8, parameter2 0000001c, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 804fb03c.

Driver detected an internal error in its data structures for. (I think this is related to the ioLogmsg.dll file).

I downloaded the windows debugging tools and took a look at the .DMP files that were generated and, in order, they were probably caused by the following files:

sptd.sys (the first two)
Ntfs.sys
vsdatant.sys

I know the sptd.sys is a Daemon Tools file so, if necessary I can get rid of Daemon tools but the thing is I had Daemon tools (v. 4.301 before the reinstall of Windows--now I'm running 4.303) but they're both lite versions and I never had any problems before running Daemon tools, so why now?

I think the vsdatant.sys is a ZoneAlarm file and so maybe version 8 just is buggy? I upgraded to version 8 from 7.X and maybe I should revert back to 7.X? If so, is there a place I can find the older version since I no longer have it?

When I was googling these error codes I found something about the fact your memory might not be working correctly so I ran a Memtest 86 3.5 on my system for about 14-15 hours (20 passes) with no errors. I didn't really change anything on the options but I remember it being for both CPUs in round robin format testing all the RAM.

I did install drivers for my Motorola cell phone so I could do a software update and that didn't ever seem to work getting the drivers off the Motorola website so I installed MS ActiveSync (which I had before the reinstall) and it seems like that installed the drivers for the phone correctly but I was getting BSODs before the installation of the ActiveSync drivers but after trying to install the ones I got from Motorola (which I think failed--either that or it was the wrong driver for my phone because Windows never detected the phone properly until the installation of ActiveSync). I've got a Moto Q9h Global if that's important.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. I'd like to avoid reinstalling Windows AGAIN if possible but if that's what it'll take so be it--I'd just like to know if it'll solve the problems before I wipe out my hard drive again and spend 10+ hours reinstalling all my software yet again.

Thanks again for the help.

I should add that after one particular BSOD Windows said it reverted back to the last known good settings. Since then I have not received any BSODs but have received pop up windows saying Windows has recovered from a serious error and Dr. Watson and explorer have both crashed.

Thanks again!
