Hi folks, I currently have a PC connected to an old NTL cable modem by it's single ethernet connection, the cable modem
also has unused USB socket. I now have a wirless laptop I would like to also connect can anyone advise the best way of doing this? I would like to keep my PC connected by ethernet but the laptop by wireless.

Is there an all in one wireless router I can buy that will work with NTL/Virgin and will replace my cable modem?
Or should I get a wirless router that plugs into my cable modem ethernet or USB port?

Any recommendations?

Many thanks for any ideas, I'm pretty lost.

Well if you call up your cable company they will rent or sell you an overpriced gateway typically that will do both. I highly suggest just buying a wireless router. Sometimes you have to clone the mac address of your current computer to get them to work but beyond that never had a problem.

Thanks for the reply. I think then I will go for a Netgear WPN824.
