i have a x1600pro and it gets very hot on boot on the side opposite the fan. the monitor shows artifacts up to a point where the screen just locks up. should i try and get it fixed or get a 8800gtx.actually I'll get it fixed anyway. should i get an 8800gtx. i do game a lot.

Have you tried re-seating the heat sink on the GPU?

i did re seat it. the card still gets hot. burned my finger.

Hmmm, did you use new grease, paste (t i m)? If not and if you try I would recommend letting the card cool this time, and avoid sharp edges, and wear a bump cap, safety glasses etc. :wink:
