I ordered Kingston PN KVR800D2N5K2/2G memory but I have an older motherboard, Asus P5AD2-E Premium which only calls for, DDR2-711 (FSB 1066) as the highest specified memory in the manual (which of course in now outdated.)

Is the new memory I bought going to be able to work in this older memory (which after looking it up on Kingstons sight for the actual motherborad is CL4 memory - and this new memory is CL5)?

I would like to find out before I open the package on this new stuff and not be able to use it.

Don't really understand all this speed specifications stuff.
The label on the new memory says it is PC2-6400 CL5.

Can you put faster memory in a slower motherboard?

Thanks,

Doug

Yes, faster memory can be run at slower speeds, just like a Ferrari can be driven at 30mph!
