Refresh option(F5) function

Hello,
what is the function of refresh option(F5).I'm asking generally, not in a particular platform. does it refreshes the page only r the entire process?

It's a universal shortcut for refresh. Aside from refreshing web pages, F5 is also used as a refresh function in many programs. IIRC, my old copy of Visual Basic used F5 as a shortcut to execute the program, effectively "refreshing" whatever appeared on your screen.
