Hello:
I want to use my main home PC (Fast) to run RDC to connect to my work laptop for work email and other apps.

What do you recommend as the best connection to make this as fast as possible?

These are my choices:
- Gigabit Ethernet (both laptop and PC have it)
- Firewire
- USB 2

I would think that using a crossover cable for Gigabit Ethernet would be the fastest. Does this work? Better that connected to a hub?

Any suggestions would be great.

Gigabit it's the way to go... Crossover it's required for a PC2PC connection... the switch isnt going to make the connection faster..For remote desktop it's more than enough... Try UltraVNC it's quite fast. Firewire it's fast and low CPU usage but the cable it's on the expensive side... USB it's slow, very cpu dependent and requires a special cable

Gigabit is your best option.

hmm, yea and no. i would definalty go with gigabit ethernet link, however if it is possible you would be much better off just plugging your laptop into the swicth on your router (especially if it is gigabit). that way your laptop can acess internet if your master system is off.
