So I had some torn images on screen. The login screen for vista 64 would perpetually partially appear or have tearing and then eventually fully load. I thought this was being caused by damaged ram on the video card, so I got an RMA with the manufacturer, and bought an inexpensive other card (partially because I wanted a backup card anyway) to use while it was being RMA'd. Same problem exists, with a different video card. I'm wondering if the tearing/broken login screen might be caused by something else? I'm a little at a loss.

Anyway, specs are
i7 920
MSI Eclipse X58
GTX 260 (formerly)
Radeon 4770 (for the moment)
Asus Xonar DX sound card
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750
couple hard drives, optical drives, basic stuff
3x2 gigs DDR3 1333 Corsair XMS3
Vista x64

GTX 260 216
Asus Xonar DX

I don't think that's the problem, I used drivercleaner.net after uninstalling the nvidia driver.

Monitor is an Asus VW224U
