Hi,

I've purchased a custombuilt system. I've installed all the programs myself however, from Vista to the latest drivers.
Everything is working well except sudden blue screens that forces me to restart the computer. I believe the problem is the BIOS as I have not updated it yet, but as far as I can tell I have the latest bios (rev 0302). The Asus Update tool that came with the motherboard has so far not been able to update/download what I need. (Says it had trouble decompressing the file.) I've tried downloading the program Asus have online on their site, but it says it won't work with my current OS.

I will dare using the EZ Flash 2 option, but I need to know what the latest BIOS version is and where I can find it. Is anyone here familiar with updating BIOS'es?

Thank you for reading!

*slightly frustrated*

On a working pc, get this to a disk:

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

And this to a USB flash card:

http://support.asus.com/download/d [...] T%20Deluxe

Latest is Version 1403. Prior to flashing, clear cmos & load bios default. Flash bios. Load bios default again, go to power menu, set suspend to S3, save & exit.

Run memtest for 5-8 passes.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for the instructions! They're the first step by step instructions I've received on any forum. (Though there's a lot of helpful people out there, that's for sure. :-) )

I fear that the file you refer to is for the P6T Deluxe and not the P6T Deluxe v2 (my card). I currently have the latest BIOS version installed there I believe (0302).

Should I install the one you suggest instead?

Pat:
The BSOD is usually to quick for me to register in its entirety. It usually speaks of a hardware problem and that I should remove any newly installed hardware as its what causes the error.

I wonder if it might be the card I have as it is very new and probably not entirely fault free?

This is the report I got on my last blue screen:

My apologies. V2 bios is here:

http://support.asus.com/download/d [...] eluxe%20V2

You got the latest. That's not the problem. Do what I said in my previous post.

Load bios default again, go to power menu, set suspend to S3, save & exit.

Run memtest for 5-8 passes.

Allright :-)

I updated my Bios to the 403 version. Before that my PC have been relatively stable since last time, but the crashes are still there.

A new problem has occured though:
In the black start up screen it now stops at "Overclocking failed!" Then it gives me an option to press F1 for Setup or F2 for load default settings. The PC will not continue to load the OS unless I choose either. What do I need to do to end this? I don't want to overclock and I've never attempted to either.

Now I will do what you told me in the previous post. Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry, I forgot to clarify: I always choose "Load default", but I would like to be able to restart my PC without having to press F2 (Load default) every time it starts up. :-)

Shut everything down and pull the plug.
Then remove the battery for 15 seconds and replace.
Then reboot.
This will clear the cmos and will be on default.
