I believe that I need to have a bridge device on both ends, is that correct?

What hardware do you recommend for a wireless bridge and why? Certainly cost is a factor, but it's not the only factor.

Thanks for any advice!

I am planning on shooting the signal (with cantenna's) across a big field from my house to my shop.

You need a wireless router at the house and a wireless bridge at your shop. You can convert a router to a bridge using dd-wrt firmware.

Thanks Grumpy, I'm looking for specific hardware (brand/model) recommendations.

You're saying I only need a bridge at one end, I have a spare/extra D-Link DWLG700 AP to use at my house, what wireless bridge would you recommend for the other end?

It looks like the Linksys WRT54G is pretty reasonably priced and with the DD-WRT firmware I should be good to go. Is the Linksys bridge compatible with the D-Link one?

Thanks again!

You might want to go with the Linksys WRT54GL since it was made to work with the dd-wrt firmware. The DWLG700 should work fine.

Hey, Grump. Would that work for a WAP54G v.2?

I'm trying the same thing. I've got a Westell 327W router downstairs that's connected to the DSL connection and my wife's Mac.

I'm trying to create a bridge to add a small network of PCs up here in my attic.
