XP Installation Loop

I'm installing a new drive, and the XP installation won't advance beyond the "blue screen" phase. It examines my hardware, formats the drive, copies the installation files, and then reboots to continue the installation. But each time I get an error message indicating it can't find the OS and the reboot hangs unless I manually boot from the CD drive, but then the installation starts over from scratch.

Can you provide complete system specs? Is it an additional hard drive or a replacement? If an additional drive, is it configured as the boot disk?

Thanks for the reply, but I managed to find a solution. Other posts referred to installing with only 1 DIMM, which seemed to do the trick. (BTW, this was a replacement drive.)
