I have a problem... my dad's Dell Dimension E310 is not recognizing blank CDs! I tried rebooting a few times (my girlfriend's computer had a similar problem, and that fixed it on her computer), but that isn't doing anything. The warranty for this computer expired 2 days ago, so I can't get help from Dell unless I pay them... does anyone know what to do? Thanks!

1. which burner program are you using
2 if you got the installation disk remove the program in the Control Panel Add Remove Programs tab and reinstall it

I had a similar problem and was able to solve it by doing the following:
ran some MS tool that adjusts the "drive type" number in the registry
uninstalling all my DVD burning software, Drive emulation software, etc
uninstall the DVDRW drive from device manager
Hard power off (although still not fixed)
googled & ran "MS DVD FIX"

Some combination of the above fixes resolved, although the last step of running the "MS DVD FIX" was what finally cleared the problem.
(However, I think uninstalling the drivers and some of the other steps helped).

Hope this helps someone
