Hello all, I'm having an issue with games locking up and crashing due to a driver error called LiveKernelEvent. This issue started about a month ago when I decided to return to CoX and check out issue 14. Within 10-15 mintues of game play CoX would crash to desktop without any warning displaying a "Driver has stop working, but has recovered message at the bottom of screen. Was running drivers 182.02 at the time and then upgraded to 182.50 and still nothing changed. Finally Nvidia released the new 185.85 drivers and CoX ran a lot smoother for a while and then crashe again. I was blamming CoX at the time because every new issue had its share of BUGS, but I went back to Fallout 3 and downloaded the new Broken Steel expansion pack and it still crashed to desktop. Three months ago, I had no issues running games and have no clue of what has changed in my system since returning to CoX on April 10th. After coming back to CoX, my game running experience has been a nightmare, so far the only game that does not act up is Sins of Solar Empire Enrichment and that gets boring after 1hr of gameplay, LOL.
I did some research on this LiveKernelEvent and seen the usual reinstall vista, reinstall or reload video drivers that is of no help to most people, but my main concern is my RAM. Two of my sticks are 1Gigs Cas 4 RAMs which I bought back in 2007 and my two new 2Gigs RAM are Cas 5 and only 2 months old. Maybe the Cas 4 are too fast for the Cas 5 and could be causing the issue with the crash, but it only occurs when running games. In Vista itself, all my applications are running at 100% but system does tend to lag when watching Blue Ray Movies, but that could be a codec issue.

I am trying to resolve this issue before all the new games are released in June so if anyone has delt with this issue before please help.

My system is as follows:

AMD Athlon X2 64 6400+ 3.2GHz Dual Core 1024x2 FBS

Corsairs XMS2 DDR2 800MHz 6GB RAM clocked @ 4-4-4-12 (Two are 1GBs) = 2Gigs RAM

I guess no one has any information on how to resolve this LiveKernelEvent that lots of gammers are experiencing. I've spent lots of hours googling this thing and seems that even ATI is getting hit by this error. Many tech supporters are aguring thats is a hardware issue due to overclocking and overheating, but I have 9 120mm fans (4 of them are directly on my two EVGAs 9600 GT) and nothing is overclocked in my system. However, my EVGA cards are "superclocked" but thats the way they came out the box.

The only thing that concerns me is that I have two Cas 4 memory sticks along with two new Cas 5 Memory sticks that could be causing the error, but if that was the case then this should've happen back in Jan '09. Another minor concern for me is maybe a few of my fans went out and could be causing my cards to overheat, but I will have to check that when I get home. Before I began doing open-heart surgery on my PC, I want to try the Nvidia drivers 182.06 that was released back in Feb '09. I had no issues with LiveKernelEvent until I installed 182.50 and to make matters worse 185.85. If this does not work then I will have to try replacing my two Cas 4 RAMs and by another 2Gigs x 2 set that are Cas 5 and see will that work out any. And if all fails I will just have to wait until Windows or Nvidia comes out with a fix for this issue...thinking this would be a good time for windows to issue out SP2 for Vista.
