I've had a big issue with my computer for awhile now. Every 5 seconds my Explorer toolbar and all desktop icons disappear, closing any file I might have open and then reappears. It does this NON-STOP!!. Also each time this happens there is a notification beep that occurs. I have been having to utilize Task Manager any time I need to open a program. Also, during typing, every 5 seconds I must re-click the mouse onto the computer screen because it stops typing. I've been troubleshotting, but nothing seems to work. I have no clue where the problem is. Ive come close to doing some destruction, but have instead bought a new computer. However, I am trying to move my Word Documents/pictures etc. to a flash drive and nothing will stay open long enough to allow me to do this. I am beyond frustrated. Any good advice??

use the install disk and try to repair the OS, reloading will cause a bunch of issues and you can lose your data potentially

1. new computer- install a very good AV program, VG and NOD32 highly recommended, NOD has a fully functional 30 day trial
2. remove the old HDD form the old computer and install it in a external box and download all your data, run a scan on the drive if you don't get any warning when you hook it up
3. once you have the data off the drive you can wipe the drive( write zero's to it so that all the data is destroyed including the netldr), reinstall the drive in the old computer and reinstall the OS
4. consider getting a new HDD for the box and use it for archives and backing up important data, I have a 1.5 TB Seagate that I use, if all that you have is word docs a thumb drive would be good
