I have Comcast HD cable with a Motorola box. I have a Panasonic HT920
Hometheater in a box hooked up to the Motorola box through the optical
output.Sometimes when I tune to a channel that is in DD 5.1 the sound goes
off andthe receiver/dvd flashes with no sound. The only way to make it
change is to go to another channel that is playing 5.1 and change back.
It's like is needs a kickstart or something. Does anyone know what causes
this? Is there anyway to fix it. I have the same set up in my living room
only with
a Onkyo receiver and it changes between audio sources with no problem.
Any help is appreciated...

Sounds like a problem with your HT920. I imagine there is no fix to the
problem so maybe focusing on a less annoying workaround is the key. Since
not every channel has DD 5.1 I would guess that gets really annoying!
How about if instead you flip back and forth between a couple inputs using
your HT920 remote. For example you could quickly set the input to "DVD" and
then flip back to "TV". Another possibility might be if there is a button
to manually set it to DD 5.1 then maybe you could try that.
Good luck!
