i just bought a gateway laptop from bestbuy and i am experiencing a number issues, my internet explorer does not work properly and i am unable to download adobe flash or watch youtube or any flash based video,as well as having issues with the browser in general, windows media player would not open and my yahoo mssenger does not work well when i download it ,i type words but they dont show on the chat window, vista also does not seem to get my msic files from my mp3 player,i hook it up and the sansa sows up on the screen but when i want to access my music in it i see nothing and again media player does not even show up. I also have issues dowloading some games and stuff like that,i suspect that somewhere along the line the registry got corrupted and that messed things up in vista i am wondering what i cold do to fix the problem i dont know if i should just take it to bestbuy and either have them replace it or have geek squad check it out, also i want to know if there is a way i can just reset everything on windows from scratch and start afresh since i dont have any valuable stuff saved on the hard drive

You should have gotten revocery CDs with the system. Just pop in Disk one and boot from the disk, should restore it to OutOfBox condition, before Best Buy Futzed with it.

First off a regestery cleaner/repair tool is a desprate last stand. My adivce is run sfc /scannow and when you find windows corruption it cant fix reinstall from media provided with the system. Or if you dont try thr regestery cleaner. In order to attempt a factory recovery you usualy hit f8 during start up and go to repair my computer. I dont mean to be pesimistic but it dont sound good.

P.s. You could even try malwarebytes see if that helps. However thats kinda like treating a gun shot wound with asprin.
