Please tell me that is not how it came packed in the box, that's horrible, when I pay $500 for a card I want it rapped in little fat people to cushion it from damage, what a rip.

RMA buddy, and maybe even an angry email to the good folk at Diamond.

I'm still considering buying one of these though, just ruling out Diamond :x

you sure they didnt sell you a refurbished one?
because no way a expensive videocard will be in the box in THAT BAD WAY..

The box of my mx440 looked liked this... Terrible 8O

Not even in a static bag AMD can't even afford a static bag that sucks that looks like a white box part slammed into a diamond box. All I can say is wow

No hostility, but it's not AMD's fault it's Diamonds.
HIS and Saphire cards come with static bags and proper packaging don't they.

Edited punctuation for clarity.

So Diamond manufactured that card or His or Saphire

id say sapphire manufactures them all for the rest, but the packaging, boxes, and all the preparations for the vid card to be sold, are by the companies such as HIS and Diamond.. so the finger should be pointing to Diamond or Newegg atm.. ( I swear THAT looks like a refurbished card... )
and considered it came damaged, even more obviusly..

So all ATI does is make the chip

yes, and I think this time they had to design the cooler (heatsink, fan.. and stuff like that )
also they always make a "reference" board, so everyone knows how the connectors are (usually sapphire if not ATI ).

NamronSllim,

What does it say on your 8800GTX. It says EVGA on it right? Do you think Nvidia manufactured that card, just like you think AMD manufactured that 2900XT video card and not Diamond (which is actually Best Data because Best Data bought S3's video card business, which Diamond's video card business, after S3 royally destroyed the Diamond after the bought it).

Anyway, I agree RMA!! Send it back. In fact, if it came like that with no anti static bag and poorly packaged, I'd send it back asap. That looks like a bad memory chip.

From the pattern it looks like dead MEMORY, gotta RMA it.

May be a glitch somewhere else, but looks like memory to me.

Sorry for the butchered sentence. I meant S3's Video card business, Diamond Multimedia, was bought by Best Data after S3 trashed it. S3 only bought Diamond MM because they wanted the Rio MP3 player in their line up because after that, the name was changed from S3 to Sonicblue and they only sold the Rio MP3 player and dual slot VCRs after the name change.
