Does using a router to split the internet to 2 computers slow it down?

Hello!
I have a broadband internet connection.My question is If I used a router to split the internet to two different computers will i have a slower connection on both the computers?

Yes and no. If both computers are simultaneously using the internet, the connection speed will be decreased. However if only one of the computers is using the internet, your speed should not be affected. In either case, however, your total internet connection speed will not be affected.
