hello friends,

I am in a horrible situation with my system now. the spec of my system is,
Intel DG33FB mobo
Intel Core2 Quad 6600@2.4Ghz/800Mhz FSB
Kinston DDR2/4GB@800Mhz
250 GB Seagate Baracuda SATA HDD
nVidia Quadro Fx 1400 PCX Card/128MB
Two LG DVD RW+ IDE based DVD writers.
The problem is my two DVD writers are working fine on another computer with its IDE cable, but it is not working with my mobo.Recently I installed vista ultimate (clean installation).
Your kind assistance is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried each drive individually or only both drives together?

Friend,
I have tried with a single dvd (setting the jumper to master and then again to cable select mode) drive also. There is no wrong with the jumper settings friend.. I have checked the ide cable and the dvd drives with another computer. All of them work.
I tried to check with editing the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}), but I don't know how to find the 'upper' and 'lower' filters. It shows only 0000,0001,......... ,0008 and 'property'.
When the drive is attached my PC hardly boots, an unblinking cursor shows up against a black background.Thats all.

The problem is solved friend ! After editing editing the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}), the problem is resolved. I downloaded the 'Microsoft FixIt50027" from Microsoft.
