Forgive me if this is obvious to everyone but myself but I am primarily a finance guy with a major tech jones.
I have built a HTPC and loaded Windows Vista Ultimate along with about 600GB of DVDs and CDs. I didn't activate the OS immediately and then forgot to do it so on the 30th day it activated and then came the BSOD. I didn't write down the exact error (I know, I know, I'm sorry) but basically it told me that it was a HDD problem. Since then I have never been able to load Vista again, even with different HDD's, it goes to the BSOD each time so I thought I would try Windows 7 RC. It loads most of the time up to the point where it fails to write the the MBR.
Here's my build:
Thermaltake HD 101 Case
Antec Earthwatts 500 PSU
(2) WD Caviar Green 1TB HDDs
(1) WD Caviar Blue 320GB HDD
4GB (2X2096) Corsair XMS DDR2 800Mz
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H MB
LG GGC HL-20 Blu Disk/HD DVD
I have completely replaced the HDDs through RMA and the system will load Windows XP Pro but I cannot get Windows Vista Ultimate to load at all and Windows 7 aborts at writing to the MBR.
