I am running a Vista Home 64 bit (premium I think?) on an HP A6700y Quad Core with 4 gigs of Ram and a 9400GT Graphics card. I am trying to run things a bit SMOOTHER, and wondering what processes I can get rid of?
Here is a copy of a recent HijackThis:
Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Platform: Windows Vista SP1 (WinNT 6.00.1905)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702)
Boot mode: Normal
I can see a few that I would get rid of, but it more my personal preference than anything else.
In the running processes you can turn off the following until they are needed.
Power ISO, AIM, HP Software update, and AOL software.exe.
The following section has several things that can be turned off depending on your preferences.
Most of them can be stopped by opening the program and going into their settings and uncheck "Start with Windows."
At least turn off AIM, MSN Messenger, MySpace IM,Yahoo toolbar, Roxio.
Those are the things I see at first glance that is eating up a lot of your resources.
Its up to you as to what you feel that you need but almost all of those programs think of themselves as programs that you cant live without and automatically set themselves to run when windows runs.
They can all be turned off until needed.
