I have a laptop that boots into XP but the icons and taskbar never come up. The only thing you can see is the background and I can do alt ctrl delete to get the task manager. It was full of viruses so I ran Kasperskys (spelling?) removal tool and this happend after restart. Please help.

anyway to get those files back without having to do a repair install? This is the oem install and I dont have a disk.

ok, I now have a XP home install disk SO if I reinstall XP and enter the CD key off the laptop will it work, what do I do when it says I have 30 days to register? I also have Ulitmate boot disk 4 windows and can find files but dont know how to restore them.
