how to fix ntldr compressed on my averatec 6700 series windows xp?

Boot from your XP install CD, when the setup welcome screen shows select "R" for the recovery console...(it's been a while sice I last used it, can't remember if there is another menu)
When you get the command prompt, type CD \ <enter>, then type attrib -c ntldr <enter> to un-compress the file, now reboot and it should be fixed.

What if I no longer have the Cd for installing. XP?
