When I try to empty my recycling bin, I get the error message:

"Error Deleting File or Folder - Cannot delete...... The file name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name."

However, when I look inside my recycling bin its empty and anything else I delete doesn't show up inside it but when I go and attempt to empty my bin, it recognized that the new file is in there and deletes it from the computer. Is there anyway I can bypass this error message to properly delete the specific file. I dont want to have to reformat my computer and the folder or file that wont empty in the bin is taking up over 5GB of space on my computer.

I looked over the link posted, but I'm having trouble locating exactly within it where it refers to my problem. Since it dealing with files already assigned to the recycling bin and not the process of attempting to delete a file persa. Can you please be a little bit more specific?

Not sure if this helps but after reviewing old posts on this same issue, it seem to maybe be a registry problem. One refer to this site line 64 right column "http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm", but I'm unsure of how to execute a reg-edits in suck a way...

Is your file "hidden" or a visible file? I'm having a similar problem, but in mine the file that won't empty from the Recycle Bin is hidden. Error message says it's "locked or disk if full", obviously the later is ridiculous and how can I unlock a file I can't see.

Hope someone has a tested workable solution to both our problems.
