Hello,I have a support desktop that's about 4 years old. It has a Maxtor 160GB IDE HD with 2 partitions, running WinXP SP3. With no warning it stopped loading Windows right after the BIOS message, just black screen. I connected the HD to another PC and it show up under the Disk Administrator as Unassigned. So I tried Ontrack's Easy Recovery Pro and it recognizes both partitions and was able to recover the files in the secondary partition. The problem is that it saved them in separate directories according to its extension, and also changed the names to FIL0.AI, FIL1.AI, etc. Most of these are Illustrator files with links to tiff or psd files. So you can imagine the chaos of trying to sort these out. Is there any software that anyone can recommend that will recover and rebuild the MFT and will allow me to recover the files at least with the original names? Thanks
