Tried the Quake forums but they are deserted. :(

Used to play it a lot years ago then stumbled across the cd the other day
and loaded it onto my current pc which runs XP Pro.

It does not work even with setting the compatibility options.
Any ideas?

Cheers

If I remember correctly GL Quake has a copy of openGL32.dll in the
base folder. This file is for voodoo support, if you do not have a
Voodoo card Quake will not start since it will load that dll rather
than the one in your %windir%\system32 folder. All you have to do is
delete the openGL32.dll and Quake should run fine.

You might also want to liven up good ole GL Quake with Tenebrae

http://tenebrae.sourceforge.net/

or Industri

http://industri.sourceforge.net/

Use WINQUAKE!

I've been playing Quake on Win XP Pro for the past year now online.
On the other hand, sometimes I get a few graphic glitches in my
Windows desktop after exiting the game but not too annoying.
