Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the step-by-step actions are that take place during a Vista start-up? My system sometimes freezes directly after the system drivers load. After the system drivers load the NumLock indicator on my keyboard as well as the laser in my mouse goes out. If the mouse lights back up then I know the start-up will be sucessfull. When the mouse light doesn't come back on then the battery indicator on the front of my case will start blinking at a very regular interval (about one blink a second) and the system will sit in this state with a blank screen indefinately.

I recently thought that it was perhaps my graphics driver and just replaced it with the most recent version from Nvidia. After 10 sucessful start-ups I thought the problem was solved, however the system stalled on me again yesterday. Sometimes I have to re-astart as many as 4 times before the system doesn't get hung up. One it does finally start everything runs fine. If I can find out what loads during a normal start-up after the system drivers then perhaps I can troubleshoot a bit more.

Thanks,

Jim
