I've noticed at various times a task bar button (white) popping up and
disappearing within seconds. I have no idea what program would be causing
this. How do I find out what this is? I've run all ad aware and the
microsoft anti spyware program.

If it's right above the clock behind the taskbar and has a search
function with a magnifying glass, go to the dos command.
Start, All programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.
Type "cd.." without quotes hit enter, until your at c:\windows.
Type; del silent_setup.exe
I just had to clear this virus that couldn't be detected by 3 different
AV programs. This was the only way I could get rid of it!
Best,
Treeman

Have you tried running Task Manager to monitor the processes that are
running on your computer? Right click an open area of your Taskbar and
select Task Manager from the menu that pops up. Click on the Process tab.
Click on the CPU column twice so that the most active process will be
listed at the top.

To see a running display of the activity on your computer download and run
Filemon from Systernals.com:

You might also want to try running this program:

Process Explorer

Good luck
