I have an Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard and recently installed another 2GB Ram to bring it up to 4GB and had no luck with vista recognizing all of the ram, I had a copy of XP64
so I installed it instead. I thought this would solve the memory problem.
There are 2 settings in the bios for remapping the memory (on HW and one SW) and I have tried every combination but can't get all the memory to be used.
Here is what I have done:
1: Both memory mapping disabled..BIOS shows 4096 Ram installed 2048 usable XP task manger shows 2048.
2: SW enabled HW disabled..BIOS shows 4096 Ram installed 3072 usable. XP task manager shows 3072.
3: HW enabled SW disabled..Bios shows 4096 Ram installed 4096 usable. XP will not start, computer keeps restarting.
All ram is new but I ran Memtest anyway and it showed no trouble.
Any ideas?
