Am having a problem on this PC with certain pages having extremely slow load times...

in particular (tom's hardware, Cnet have very very slow load times (sometime 10-20 seconds)

compared to sites like (comcast, facebook, newegg, etc) which typically load almost instantly.

This has been an ongoing problem for the last week.

Have a Broadband Cable connection and i have nothing going on in the backgrounds when this occurs (downloads etc)

It only seems to occur for certain sites. per above and also sites that have some type of video on them.

Have a total of 4 PC's connected on the home network and this pc is the only one with the issue. (my old athlon 3500 cracks open websites like nobodys business)

All the pc's in the household are running Norton AV (thru the comcast free deal)

This pc is the only one using win 7

Google Chrome is the browser im using on all of the pc's as well.

Is there any methodology someone can point me at to eliminate potential problems one by one so that i can correct this.

here are some other details which may help as well.

Amd Phenom II x4 945 (3.0 ghz)
6gb DDR memory
1 tb WD HD
MSI HD 4770
550w OCZ PSU

Win 7 home premium
Google Chrome
Norton Security Suite as AV / Firewall / ETC
Tune up utilities 2010 to keep everything tidy

Im sure its some little silly thing like I have VLC set as my preferred video player and google chrome wants it to be some other type of player...

BUT ITS DRIVING absolutely BUTT BUGGY that my wife is zooming through these same pages on a pc thats 8 years old while i sit here on a new pc and wait for my page to load....

Please help... :p

There are sites that load slower than others. This site does, typically, load slow. Try using firefox with the AdBlock plus plugin. You can block banners and ads that load. It speeds up the loading time some.

Try managing your add-ons. In IE, go to ‘tools’ and ‘manage add-ons’. Disabling any unnecessary add-ons may help your Internet run faster. Try disabling add-ons with more than a .2 sec load time. (i.e. tool bars)
If you’re still not having any luck, I recommend you reinstall IE8 on your system.

Hope this helps!

+1 to the last post.

If none of the solution's above helps you, I recommend to scan your PC with HijackThis + Malwarebytes'.

Don't forget to update the database of Malwarebytes', and be sure that you are running them in safe mode.

You can download Malwarebytes' here:

You can download HijackThis here:

And you can analyze your scan results with the help of this site:

The OP is using Chrome, not IE.

It's a slow rendering issue, on only a couple sites. Malware isn't the likely cause.

Have gone into chrome addons and disabled all but chromes version of Adblock Plus. Things seem to be running along much more smoothly now.

Thanks for everyone's responses,
