I recently got my computer ( Hp pavillion dv6000) back after the crashed HDD had to be replaced. I had never made a recovery disc so i had to order another Vista disc from Hp. Well in the mean time my dad decided to tinker with it and tried to use his Vista dell notebook recovery disc. He says it went all the way to trying to install and then he stopped it just incase it deleted need files. After he shut it off it now reads BOOT MGR MISSING press ctr + alt + delete to restart. I just today got my recovery disc from Hp and now when i insert it i get nothing but a blinking white line. I tried to boot the dvd/cd drive first from the bios but to no avail..I don't know what to do...HELP?
Have you tried disconnecting the power supply and removing the battery? That's how I get my daughter's dv6000 working again. Unlike you, I created the recovery discs and I also ghosted it.
