I have toshiba A215 laptop with vista home premium,I have a bogus user account which
has come into my system and blocks nearly everything I try to do.My email account has
also disappeared,can anybody help? Vic

1. Bogus user account? Email account has dissappeared? Wipe the installation out and do a complete reinstallation of the OS, system drivers and software applications.

2. Log on to less pron sites after the reinstall.

Hello badge,
Does this mean it was a virus attack? This all happened after a cold boot the next day.Thanks victtori

I have never had a PC show up with a bogus user account. My email account has never dissappeared. I have had kids purposely infect a computer with spyware and virus' trying to be funny. Rather than spend hours trying to rid the system of spyware and virus, I just wiped the drive clean and did a fresh install. In your case, even if it did not mean a virus caused the problem, having a bogus user account and important things like an email account dissappear would cause me to seriously consider reinstalling the OS to make the corrections. But then I will reinstall my OS if I feel even the smallest corruption or malfunction I can not fix regarding the OS/registry/etc.

What kind of email are you using? Unless you are using outlook, a virus will not effect your email.

If the user account isn't administrator or guest, just delete the account.

After that, boot into safe mode and run a virus scan.
