I've been googling for an hour and can't seem to find any
good info on this....
I am an ex dish customer, and still have the dish on the side
of my house. I would like to get a off-air HDTV receiver, and
was thinking that I may be able to use the old dish as the antenna.
Has anyone tried this ??
Does it work ?

You can't use a dish for OTA reception. It is for receiving satellite
signals only.
You will need a regular roof top antenna, or an indoor if you are close to
the towers.

Hi,
When you had Dish, did you have an 811 receiver by any chance? That one has
off-the-air reception and pretty good, too. You won't need a satellite
signal, just spend some money to have an HDTV antenna on your roof. Or even
an attic antenna like I did, and I get ABC and Public TV off the air in HD.
If you dumped Dish I guess you have digital cable? They provide all
available HD local channels usually.
