Vista Install hangs!

Have vista Ultimage dvd in external DVD drive,
boot up PC, it sees Dvd and starts install

Windows Loading Files
with progress bar goes fine

then it goes to progress bar and blank screen with " Microsoft Corp" and the dvd slows down or stops spinning

some times it hangs up here at this screen

sometimes it goes to the next a blue/green textured background vista pic, with a mouse and no menu/text, and then sometimes hangs up here

never gets past that screen

I've let it sit there for a couple mins no luck..

any ideas???

I've got a similar problem...mine goes past the windows loading green-bar screen, to a blank screen with just a mouse pointer. Caps/numlocs work, nothing else. Mine sat over the weekend....three days...even Microsoft products aren't usually this slow!

Heh. Just got it up and running this afternoon. It was the SATA mode in BIOS. Set it for plain SATA, and it installed Vista like a charm. Now I can clean off some desk-space and get the PC back to the user.
