This is really not making sense to me now maybe someone here has a clue on what's wrong.

When I pop in an audio cd wmp, itunes, and vlc all only play the first track before giving errors on the other tracks.

I first replaced the drive to get the same problem, I put new cables in, checked the drives in another computer, and tested the cd's. They were all working properly

So it must be a software issue right?

I installed Windows 7 and popped in a cd and it played perfectly tried another 3 cd's all fine.

So it must be Vista right?

I did a clean install of Vista last night, loaded the new drivers and whatnot to pop in a cd and get the same problem...wtf is going on. How does cd's work on a fresh install on 7 but not on Vista? What could possibly be the problem?

Im running 64 bit Ultimate and can someone please help me figure this out?

I have the same issue, with a brand new drive and still getting the same first track playing, then skipping the rest. I will occasionally find a CD that plays another track further down, but rarely. The CDs are usually in good condition, and they play on a Vista computer at work, but not the 64bit version I have.
