I read that this has two NTSC tuners but nothing to indicate it does
PIP. Why two tuners if it doesn't do PIP? Or does it only have one
tuner or does it do PIP? I think one or the other has to be wrong.

It will do "Twin Pictures" (two *side by side*), or One Picture and One
Freeze-Frame side by side, but no PIP that I can find. This is for the
LC-32GD4U that I have.

OK. I'm not familiar with the terminology. Two side-by-side is pretty
much the same as PIP in the sense that I was wondering if it could do
two shows at once.

BTW, the LC-32GD4U is one of the machines on my short list, along with
the Philips 32PF9996/37. Care to share any comments?

"Twin-View" on my Sony (KDF-60XS955) -- and most likely on your TV --
replaces PIP. If you just want one picture up there, then tune the other
"twin" to a non-existent channel. I do this sometime to watch bad SD
pictures in a smaller window, which improves them greatly.

The somewhat fractured english in my downloaded copy of the owners manual
for the Sharp LC-xxGD6U series (xx = 26, 32 and 37) seems to state that
twin pictures will not work if any one of the inputs is from DVI, HDMI or
Card (cablecard, I think) inputs. Apparently, only component or S-Video
inputs received in 480i format allow the twin picture function to work.
Seems like PIP would have been a much better design choice, since the
scaled-down picture of PIP would, in theory, have allowed us to view
pictures from any of the various inputs, whereas the twin pictures
function is apparently limited to displaying true 480 line resolution
images.
