If it says windows vista ultimate upgraed dose it mean you have to have windows vista premeium first. so when you put windows vista ultimate upgrade in your computer it just upgrades it to ultimate or can you buy this and put it straight on your computer??

Officially, no. Unofficially, yes. There is a method which allows you to do a clean install of Windows Vista using the upgrade media. However, this was only intended for those that already had a previous version of Windows. If you don't own a previous version (2000, XP or Home or Business Vista), then you are not eligible for the upgrade.

I think you need have Windows Vista already installed inorder to get benefits from Windwos Vista Ultimate upgrade. At frist I was also shocked to see student version of Windows Vista Ultimate sale for so cheap but later I found it is just an upgrade version.
