i have been using 2 gigs for a while now and recently tried to upgrade to 4. my bios and my OS only read 3 gigs instead of 4. and i am gettni this wierd number in cpu-z under CAS# Latency:
and in cpuz, it does recognize 4 gigs but not my OS.
all 4 sticks are the same make and model.
if you are using vista, it is normal, only 64 bit vista will recognize 4GB or bigger memory. Microsoft did release a document about it but I could not remember which forum I saw that. You can try google it.
There is a boot.ini switch for XP and Server 2003 that can be used to "force" support for more than 3GBs of RAM for the 32bit versions. You should not have to do this on Vista 64 but here you go. Also your CPU and BIOS will need to support this.
thx guys. i think my mobo supports upto 8 gigs (4x2)
i 'll look into bios to enable memory remapping if its disabled, but how do i enable it in hardware?
