I detached the cpu fan cable from the mainboard because I prefer to control it manually. Everything is fine except that csrss.exe keeps popping up this message every time my system starts:
clicking OK pops up the same message again and afaik csrss.exe is vital for windows XP so it can't be stopped! How can I kill it?
Windows XP doesn't monitor your CPU fan, there must be a third-party utility installed and running.
Csrss.exe is the client/server run-time sub-system, it provides thread management and 16-bit MSDOS sub systems (and other stuff), the monitor utility is probably making use of service provided by csrss.exe; look through the add-remove program list to see if you can un-install whatever is doing the monitoring, whatever you do, don't kill csrss, XP needs it.

Yes you were right, I uninstalled a bunch of tweaking applications and now the message box is gone! But when I selected the message box in task manager and selected go to process it showed csrss.exe is causing the popup, who knows..
Thanks a lot MrLinux!
