Windowd 8 programs frozen after return from power save

I just bought a new computer with Windows 8 and in general I really like the speed and varied functionality, but there is one part where I am very frustrated with it. I've read through threads anywhere I can find and cannot solve this issue:
When my computer goes into power save mode and then wakes up, it keeps all programs running but I cannot maximize the programs to access them. The only solution is to restart the computer. I have no unusual memory dumps, I have updated all drivers and the BIOS, and turned off the sleep option.

Any ideas to help me solve this problem before I give up and buy Windows 7 to replace Windows 8 on this piece of junk?

Update: I ended up adding a password to log back in from power save mode and that seems to have solved the problem....at least temporarily. Just thought this tidbit may help anyone else experiencing the same issue.

Just to let you know that windows xp had that problem as well as vista and 7. It surely has not been solved with windows 8:

I personally disable it!
