Your system is not recognizing your HD probably because it is a SATA or PATA drive. Is the HD new? If this is a new hard drive you will need to purchase a new System Disk. If this is a SATA drive you will need to install drivers which are probably on your motherboard disk. At the beginning of the Windows installation you will be asked if additional drivers are needed. If so, you will need to hit one of the F keys. You may need a floppy drive to continue.
