Operating system- Win XP service pack 3
Mobo- Old asrock socket 478 (PVM800 I think)
Processor- Celeron Prescott series, 3.06ghz oc'ed to 3.4 (stable 44c idle, 50c under load)
Video card- Nvdea 7600GS AGP
Ram- 1gig kingston
Hard disk-Master 40 gig from 2003 85% free space, slave 40 gig from 2008 78% free space

Problem-
This old master drive is getting slow, could I just clone it to the slave then swap it to avoid the hassle of reinstalling and reconfiguring everything all over again?.

Remember- I am not talking about putting this in another computer, everything is the same just a healthier hard drive.

I'm pretty sure Acronis True Image will let you download and use for a limited time their fully functional software, the key to using it with no problems is when the clone process completes it automatically shuts down.

At that point disconnect the source HDD before rebooting, if you don't, you will have serious problems, otherwise it works great.

So I can clone onto the second, make it the master and I'm good to go, no other concerns?.
