Hi guys
Just wondering howmany of you DS-3 owners are using 'STOCK NB HS' and Overclocking successfully.
Heres my setup;

DS-3 board rev 3.3, F 11
E 4300 with AC Freezer Pro 7
G Skill DDR 2 800 2 x 1 GB ( F2-6400PHU2 )
Ultra Xfinity 500 Watt PS
Silverstone LC17 S case
XFX GeForce 8600 GT, PCie 256 MB, ( PVT84JUDD3 )

I’m not comfortable with the super HOT NB HS to OC, so I’m looking for a HS/fan.
Tell me if you got a good HS that works well.
thanks

I have the DS3 and an E4300. I've gone to 9*330=2970Mhz successfully without any trouble on the stock NB heatsink.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry, I should learn to read. Thought you were asking what the results we got on stock were. I don't use any fan currently on my NB. I should probably get one though just to be safe.

you are kool man. thanks for sharing, It'll take me a week to get my NB cooler, and I might try OC with stock HS for now. :wink:

Have a DS3 Rev 1. (which has a crappier NB heatsink than the newer revs). I am at 400Mhz FSB stock volts for NB. Not sure what the max FSB is that I can get as I never tried. On the side vent of my case I mounted a 120mm fan that blows on the NB, vid card, SB, and Xfi. The NB hits max 32C with the fan and artic silver. Before I had the fan and Artic Silver it could hit 70C. Wasn't stable at 400mhz FSB either then.

6300 @ 3.2 with a Tt Extreme Spirit II. When the FSB is above 400 (and mine is MUCH higher with a 7x multi CPU), I wouldn't DARE trust that crappy stock heatsink. At LEAST have a fan blowing on it, or else get a NB heatsink.

That's the one unfortunate thing about the DS3.....HOT Northbridge. Well, and the stupid placement of the IDE header......shoulda swapped with the floppy......frickin Giga engineers.

In any event, if you plan on pushing your FSB into the 400 range, definitely add more/different NB cooling.
