Ati driver problem on XP . I have no idea how to fix

ok i just put a new harddrive in my laptop and i got all of the drivers on it. everything went perfect until i restarted my pc. everything went all bloaty and big. this is NOT a resolution problem. the resolution is set at 1280x768. the mouse cursor and everything within a window (such as a web page) is just fine, but the text around the window and in windows XP itself is huge. the icons in the bottom-right corner (by the clock) are huge and distorted. when i uninstal the drivers and reinstal them it works perfect, until i shut down and restart. did i skip a step when installing XP possibly? i use omega drivers btw. i tried ati's but it made no difference. i cant do restore disks cuz my old drive died and took all my old info with it and i have none of the disks that came with my laptop, just the windows XP disk.
