Random Missing Shortcuts - Vista Business

I've read a few posts on the internet about people having the same problems, but didn't find a real resolution.

I installed Vista Business 64 two weeks ago and have had nothing but problems. The most annoying problem is that desktop shortcuts seem to randomly disappear. I am not doing desktop cleanup or using any 3rd party cleaning tool. I basically created a couple of folders on the desktop to keep all of my overclocking tools (Real Temp, CPUZ, Prime95, 3DMark), my security tools, and my programming tools. I just noticed that the shortcut for Prime95 was gone this morning. I had to create it, and I just used it yesterday. I noticed that my Photoshop shortcut was missing a couple of days ago and had to re-create that.

Any ideas? The OS is completely patched and up-to-date.
